 The most iconic building and attraction in St Louis, the Gateway Arch has been attracting tourists since its opening in 1967. The Arch is 630ft high and it is the most visited tourist attraction in St Louis with around a million visitors each year.
When you visit the Arch you are given a look at the story behind the construction of the Arch and the engineering principles which make it one of the most structurally-sound arch shapes.
You can then take a journey to the top of the Arch, getting there via a small "pod" shaped tram system which holds up to 5 people at a time. There are a total of 8 pods which go to the summit and the journey to the top of the Arch takes around 4 minutes.
At the top you have a fantastic panoramic view of the downtown area of St Louis and beyond. There are viewing points on both sides of the Arch and from here you probably get the best view in St Louis.
Tickets can be bought from the downstairs ticket office or online from the official website. The ticket prices are range from $7 for an adult and $5 for child for a ride to the summit of the Arch.
